Don’t Say Sorry introduces Tim Bakken’s Decision-Making Formula and explores the Seven Fundamentals of Failure and the Ten Elements of Happiness to help readers make correct decisions and live according to their conscience.

The Cost of Loyalty: Dishonesty, Hubris, and Failure in the U.S. Military

“A provocative, disturbing argument that a democracy is in trouble when it venerates the military unconditionally.” – starred review, Kirkus Reviews

“Strikes hard at the military establishment. The author’s condemnation of the idea of loyalty above all else is not without stark examples. The author has been a target of reprisals for espousing contrary views, yet a steely resolve led him to fight. The power of persuasion is present throughout this work.” – Portland Book Review

“[The Cost of Loyalty is] a blistering, top-to-bottom critique of America’s armed forces . . . Bakken’s insider perspective, litany of shocking examples, and evidence-based approach combine to paint a grim picture of failures by U.S. political and military leaders and their implications for the future . . . this essential and disturbing account illuminates the state of the problem.” – Publishers Weekly

The Plea of Innocence: Restoring Truth to the American Justice System

“Remarkable and convincing. The book is well-written, thoroughly researched and enjoyable to read. It is a rethinking of the criminal law that everyone involved in the criminal justice system should read and contemplate.” – The Lawyer’s Daily

“We can learn much by seeing our familiar world anew, from the outside. This book uses the outsider’s vantage point to good effect, mixing familiar criticisms of common law adversarial process with original ideas for procedures to address those problems.” – Criminal Law and Criminal Justice Books

Leadership. Decision-Making. Autonomy. Adaptability.

Speaking

Tim Bakken delivers compelling keynote presentations that show how leaders and everyone can make correct decisions through speaking and acting according to their conscience. An internationally recognized scholar and former homicide prosecutor, drawing on more than a quarter century as the longest-serving Professor of Law in West Point’s history, Tim shares a remarkable new Decision-Making Formula: our top abilities, attributes, and experiences, if we identify and act on them, will lead to correct decisions and help us avoid the seven fundamentals of failure. Through powerful storytelling about how people make life-or-death decisions for themselves and others, Tim shows how to take on the most complex leadership issues and decide what to do to resolve the most critical professional and personal matters.
